With the temperatures dropping and the first snow fall already being reported we feel like the best to remind you to take 10 minutes checking your car to ensure your ready for the winter ahead.
Check screen wash – Making sure that you use a good screen wash and not just water. This will ensure that your windscreen wipers always work, and you can clean your windscreen
Check exterior lights – As the nights draw in its always best to check the lights work. How to check the rear lights? Press the brake pedal whilst someone checks them for you.
Check Tyres Tread Depth and Pressure – As it becomes icier then checking your tread depth with ensure you have enough grip to get your out of trouble. How to check this? Look below:
Check Oil – checking the oil will ensure your vehicle is always working to the best of its ability. This again will ensure that the engine is well lubricated and can always turnover to start the car.

Carrying an emergency kit with you always through the winter might seem a bit extreme – but if you ever find yourself stranded, you’ll be glad of it. We recommend:
- A mobile phone and charger
- A hazard warning triangle
- Hi-visibility vest
- A first aid kit
- De-icer and a scraper
- A shovel
- A tow ropes
- Wellington boots
- A torch
- Warm clothes
- Food and drink
- A magazine or book – just so you don’t read the car manual 10 times.
